ShadowGuard is another BioWare's Premium Module for NeverWinter Nights, available at the BioWare store for purchasing. Although this specific module was polished by BioWare, the creator of it actually came from within the NWN community. This is noticeable in the lasting value of the module, as well as in some dialogues. As a free module, this would have been fine, but as a "Premium" module by BioWare, is not that good. In fact, it could be considered the least preferred module in the community.
In ShadowGuard, you are the only son of the city's Magistrate, and you must balance your sense of justice within the city. The story is just good enough to keep you playing, but some conversations are just too silly. Overall, the game is a bit too short and playing it again will not make things seem better. The price of $4.99 does seem too steep for a module of this quality. However, BioWare also included Witch's Wake with the same download and price, making the whole purchase good enough. But ShadowGuard is still the weakest of the Premium Modules. |
